Dr. Campbell's educational background includes earning his Bachelor of Arts from Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania (1975), his Master of Divinity, cum laude, from Andover Newton Theological School (1980), and his Doctor of Ministry, with distinction, from Hartford Seminary (1991).
In expressing his love for the vocation of pastoral ministry Geordie writes: "I love the life of the local church. It is a vital part of who I am. I grew up as a "P.K.", a preacher's kid. For that matter, I also grew up as a "P.G.K.", a preacher's grand kid! Home, family, friendships, and all of the possibilities of faith and life have always been evident and present to me within the community of Christ. As I have grown so has this love for what the church is now and yet can be."
"I love my work. Ministry has never been a job to me, rather a vocation and a sense of calling. It is the way that I am able to use the unique gifts that God has given to me. Whether as preacher, teacher, administrator, organizer, care-giver, counselor, or more, this is that way I can give myself back to God. In this manner ministry is far more than what I do. It is who I am."
Geordie married Pamela Lewis Campbell in 1977. They met while attending Susquehanna University together. Pam is a Marriage and Family Therapist as well as a Registered Nurse. Her current work combines these perspectives in private practice with a special emphasis on Medical Family Therapy.
The Campbell's have two children in "launch stage". Tim graduated from Skidmore College and is now at American University in Washington DC studying for a Master of Fine Arts. Karen is a recent graduate from the University of New Hampshire with a major in psychology. She looks forward to a career in public health. The Campbell family also includes their delightful Shih Tzu puppy whose name, "Yofee", is the Hebrew word for wonderful.
