Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Ensemble is open to instrumentalists and vocalists from high school age and older interested in experimenting with different forms of expression in a Christian setting. The ensemble will play at different times of the year, depending upon availability and the appropriate outlet for expression. Music is written for the parts . Music will be provided to players prior to the rehearsal. It is expected that the players will familiarize themselves with the music prior to the rehearsal as a group which will be at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. Music DirectorJim Boratko brings many years of experience and love of Christian music to our First Church community. Jim is one of a dwindling number of pipe organists in the country and has had extensive training under Claude Means to fine-tune his amazing skills. Along with directing our choirs each week, he has been instrumental (pun intended) in bringing guest artists such as Paul Halley; Chorus Angelicus; George Sovak; and the African Children's Choir.
