Children take Communion with parents
Families are encouraged to worship regularly together at 10 A.M. each Sunday. Child care for infants and toddlers is provided by two volunteer caregivers in a safe environment with developmentally appropriate activities and toys. This is available at 9:45 so parents can help the children feel comfortable and then be able to leave them so the parents themselves can worship.
Worship begins at 10 A.M. in the meetinghouse for children (3 years and older) and adults together. Worship is integral for us as Christians. When children are baptized, they are accepted as children of God, Disciples of Christ, members of the church. Children are present in worship for the musical prelude, the call to worship, prayers (including the Lord's prayer), a hymn, a special musical anthem, a scripture and related story. After all this the preschool children 3's and 4's to 8th grade go to their classes. During the time when children are present, the worship liturgy is created in such a way as to involve the children.
On the first Sunday of each month when Communion is celebrated, children begin in their church school classes and re-enter the service to receive the sacrament. Children and families are provided many opportunities to learn about Communion.
