For the past four years, as the Associate Minister of Christian
Education, I have had many opportunities to serve and follow my call to
ministry that is two-fold, as pastor and teacher. Helping children,
youth and adults to grow in faith; encouraging them to follow Jesus’
teachings and example; fostering partnerships in learning and
worshipping are central to my call. I value community and through
intergenerational events, I promote a family feeling in our church. I
have also continued the tradition at First Church of active youth
programs that include a balance of fun, fellowship, thought-provoking
programs, and mission projects. Teenagers with their energy,
enthusiasm, and openness to adventure and new experiences add life and
vitality to our Church and are represented on our committees and
boards.
Often, my personal interests spill over into my ministry. I am active
outdoors and I especially enjoy bicycling, hiking, kayaking, skiing,
and am learning how to sail. I feel close to God when I am experiencing
the beauty and variety in creation firsthand. Quilting has become a
spiritual discipline for me and even my five-mile morning walk has
become a time of reflection/ a prayer walk. I am a woman of deep faith
who cares deeply not only about my family, congregation, and friends
but about my brothers and sisters in our world.
