Stephen Ministry enhances the caring for our First Church family as well as complements and expands it. It is a complete system for training and organizing lay persons to provide one-to-one Christian care in and around their congregation, with a carefully planned, well-tested, step-by-step process to establish a lay caring ministry that works and lasts.
Lay persons are equipped by using a biblically based psychologically sound approach that is thorough, yet easily understood. This is a flexible program that has been implemented successfully in both small and large churches. Four or five lay persons and a pastor attend a week-long Leaders Training Course where they learn how to direct Stephen Ministers in their congregation.
The leaders help recruit, select and train members as Stephen Ministers; help match people in need of care with the Stephen Ministers; and provide ongoing supervision and continuing education.
If you would like to become a Stephen Minister for our First Church family, please let our pastors or a deacon know.
