Dan Liparini Trio
August 21, 2018 • 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Dan Liparini is a guitarist, composer, and arranger based in Hartford, CT.  As a student at the Hartt School of Music he had the opportunity to study with Steve Davis, Nat Reeves, Rene McLean, Chris Casey, Rich Goldstein and other great musicians. Since graduating in 2013, he has stayed busy as a sideman in a number of bands, playing everything from Latin-Jazz to R&B and Folk. As a leader and a sideman he has performed at venues across the Northeast including the Sidedoor Jazz Club, Infinity Music Hall, Bowery Electric, Pianos, Nectars and many others. His music is based in the tradition of the guitar trio but also draws influence from blues, rock and electronic music; a crossroads where the music of Thelonious Monk and Jim Hall meets the music of The Beatles and Radiohead. The music is tied together through its simplicity, and the trio uses each song as a template to explore different sounds and textures. Dan regularly performs around Connecticut and New York as a sideman and a bandleader.

Ed Fast and Conga-Bop
August 28, 2018 • 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The brainchild of percussionist extraordinaire Ed Fast, Conga Bop is the only ensemble of its kind to deliver a unique blend of Latin music and Jazz. Mr. Fast, himself an in demand musician, has honed the groups repertoire into one that is a balance of the obscure and accessible. Cal Tjader rarities linger with electrified songbook standards and Eds own originals. The group is a blend of seasoned performers and the newest generation of Hartfords young talent. The lineup has more or less ossified into octet formation, with certain members switching out depending on availability. Conga Bop can be seen at the Firebox Restaurant in Hartford on the first Wednesday of every month as well as at various other venues that will be announced on facebook and their website, www.congabop.com.
