Whether you’ve never attended a church before or have been a life-long member of one, we want you to feel welcome at First Church. Here’s an overview of what to expect at our weekly 10 a.m. Sunday morning services:
When you come through the door, an usher will hand you a bulletin that outlines the order of service and answer any questions you may have.
Childcare for infants and toddlers is provided by caregivers in a safe environment with developmentally appropriate activities and toys. This is available at 9:45 a.m. so parents can help their children feel comfortable and then be able to leave them in time for worship.
Worship begins at 10 a.m. in the Meetinghouse. Part-way into the service, after “Thoughts for the Young,” children & youth (preschool through Grade 8) are invited to attend Church School classes or may return to sit with their parent(s). On Communion Sundays, usually the first Sunday of each month, children begin in Church School and then rejoin their parents part-way through the service so that families might receive Communion together. All who are seeking the presence of God are welcome to worship and partake in Communion.
Our pastors guide the worship service and your bulletin gives you a rundown of that week’s order of service.
After each worship service, there is an opportunity for fellowship and a cup of coffee. Coffee, tea, juice, and light refreshments are served in the Auditorium September through June.
In July and August, morning worship is held in the air-conditioned Auditorium on the first floor. And all enjoy lemonade in the rotunda afterward.
Parking is available in the lot directly behind the church building (enter off Farmington Ave) or in the Bank of America parking lot (Sundays only) across Farmington Ave. There are a limited number of handicap parking spots available each Sunday morning directly in front of the Meetinghouse on South Main Street and more in our rear parking lot.
See calendar for special services throughout the year.
