This light of God surround you.
The love of God enfold you.

I arise today

In the name of Silence,
Womb of the Word,
In the name of Stillness,
Home of Belonging,
In the name of the Solitude
Of the Soul and the Earth.

I arise today

Blessed by all things,
Wings of breath,
Delight of eyes,
Wonder of whisper,
Intimacy of touch,
Eternity of soul,
Urgency of thought,
Miracle of health,
Embrace of God.

May I live this day

Compassionate of heart,
Clear in word,
Gracious in awareness,
Courageous in thought,
Generous in love.
-John O’Donohue

The light of Christmas star to you
The warmth of home and hearth to you
The cheer and good will of friends to you
The hope of a childlike heart to you
The joy of a thousand angels to you
The love of the Son and
God’s peace to you.
-Old Irish Christmas Blessing

For your Spirit woven into the fabric of creation
for the eternal overlapping with time
and the life of earth interlaced with heaven’s vitality
We give you thanks, O God.
For your untamed creativity
your boundless mystery
and your passionate yearnings
planted deep in the soul of every human being
We give you thanks, O God.
Grant us the grace to reclaim these depths
to uncover this treasure
to liberate these longings
and in being set free in our own spirits
to act for the well-being of the world. Amen.

At the ending of the day
in the quiet of the hours
at the interplay of light and dark
we wait with the earth as it rests
that we may give thanks for darkness
that we may open to night’s senses
that we may remember the ground from which we come
and know You
as Presence in the mystery
as evening breeze in our soul
as Everlasting Strength in earth’s body.
At the ending of the day we wait
that we may know You
as Lover of the night
as Lover in the night.
– John Philip Newell

A Celtic Blessing
Bless to us, O God, the earth beneath our feet.
Bless to us, O God, the path whereon we go.
Bless to us, O God, the people whom we meet.
Bless to us, O God, each thing our eyes see.
Bless to us, O God, each sound our ears hear.
Bless to us, O God, each ray that guides our way.
Amen.

Christ Beside Me
Christ beside me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, love of my heart Christ within me, Christ below me, Christ above me never to part.
Christ on my right hand, Christ on my left hand, Christ all around me,
shield in the strife.
Christ in my sleeping, Christ in my sitting, Christ in my rising,
Light of my life.

Christ, as a light
Illumine and guide me.
Christ, as a shield
overshadow me.
Christ under me;
Christ over me;
Christ beside me
on my left and my right.
This day be within and without me,
lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Be in the heart of each to whom I speak;
in the mouth of each who speaks unto me.
This day be within and without me,
lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Christ as a light;
Christ as a shield;
Christ beside me
On my left and my right.
