Hello! This is my story.

Michael Willett Newheart began serving First Church as Bridge Senior Pastor in August 2021.

Rev. Newheart is an ordained minister of the American Baptist Churches USA.  After he retired from Howard University Divinity School in Washington, D.C., as Professor Emeritus of New Testament Language and Literature, he completed training in Transitional Ministry and has served churches in Wisconsin and in New York state.

Rev. Newheart is originally from Liberty, MO, just outside of Kansas City. He has spent the last thirty years on the East Coast. Rev. Newheart is living in West Hartford while serving First Church, but his permanent residence is in Maryland, where his wife Joy lives along with their daughter Miranda. Another daughter Anastasia lives in Houston, TX.
