The 23rd Psalm

The 23rd Psalm, also known as the Shepherd’s Psalm, is one of the most well-known and beloved passages in the Bible. Dating back to the time of King David, who was a shepherd before he became a king, this Psalm has been a source of comfort and hope for people for over 3,000 years.

The Psalm begins with the iconic line, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” This simple yet powerful statement expresses that God is our guide and protector, leading us through life’s challenges and providing us with all we need.

As the Psalm continues, David paints a vivid picture of a shepherd caring for his flock, leading them to green pastures and still waters. This imagery speaks to the idea that God provides for our needs and brings us peace and rest, even amid life’s storms.

As Reverend Fredd and I continue our Lenten theme of “What’s Strong With You?” I will further our exploration by asking, “What’s strong with us? What’s strong with First Church West Hartford?” I believe we might find the answer in the 23rd Psalm. Stop by on Sunday at 10 and find out! See you in the pews! Rev. Jane
